Abstract

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 introduced transformative reforms aimed at improving the quality of education in India, with a specific focus on enhancing student learning outcomes. This paper presents a comparative study of student performance before and after the implementation of NEP 2020. By analyzing data from national surveys such as the National Achievement Survey (NAS) and other relevant sources, the study assesses whether the reforms, including the emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), multidisciplinary curricula, and flexible learning pathways, have translated into tangible improvements in student performance. The research highlights the areas where NEP 2020 has shown positive effects and identifies challenges in its implementation, particularly in rural and under-resourced schools. Ultimately, the findings offer insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the policy, providing recommendations for future reforms to improve learning outcomes.
